The Boneyard - Commercial Edition
  • Portfolio
The brutal truth of architecture is that sometimes great ideas just don't make it through the process. Be it budget, scope, gravity or maybe the client just didn't like it. So this page is dedicated to the designs that ended up in the boneyard. Perhaps they will rise again?

    Rogue Newport
In 2019 we completed schematic design for a large new pub to be added to the face of the flagship Newport Rogue brewery. The design was inspired by the mid-century model of a glassy showroom on the face of a more industrial building. The pub featured large glass and outdoor areas facing the Newport bay and the Yaquina Bridge. Credits: Steelhead Architecture

    Indoor Soccer
An indoor soccer field has long been a desire for one of our clients - and likely many Porlander's. This schematic exercise looked at a specific building near the Goat Blocks in SE Portland. The project featured a mix of office space, cafe / bar plus the full size field with local sponsorship. Credits: Steelhead Architecture

    Rogue Eastside
The original plan for the Rogue Eastside project was for a larger scope of work that included more built structures. A large outdoor bar, more bathrooms and a wider variety of seating levels were all looked at in the schematic phase. Credits: Steelhead Architecture

    Yakima Commercial
Located in an industrial area of Yakima this project aimed to help pioneer a new wave of development. Conceptually the front of the building acts as the protective oyster shell to the pearl of an oasis like garden at the rear of the property. Credits: Steelhead Architecture
